Dear PTA Association Presidents, Principals, and Superintendents,

The Santa Barbara Area Council of PTA’s wants to welcome you aboard. The Area Council consists of twenty-nine units/schools within five school districts in the southern part of Santa Barbara County. The council is here to assist you to become stronger leaders. It is a valuable tool in how a PTA works well with your school community. Here are a few things we will do:

• The Council holds monthly meetings. Our meetings are held the fourth Thursday of each month with a few exceptions for holidays. All PTA presidents, superintendents, and principals are part of our Board. Our website has all locations with dates and times. We encourage you to use our website.
• We offer leadership training. Our first workshops are August 24th at Hope School at 7 p.m. The 15th District PTA will be there to assist council as needed. We can come to your PTA when asked.
• We sponsor the PTA Reflections Program, a chance for children to show off their art, photography, visual arts, and literature. This year there are two new categories also, dance choreography and film/video production. Hear all about it at our workshop training August 24th or our meeting on September 9th at Tucker’s Grove Park.
• We maintain an e-mail list to alert you to meetings, events, deadlines and pass on Legislative information that comes to us from CA State PTA. Please check your e-mail boxes frequently.
• We maintain a SB Area Council Website. Here, you will find calendar of events, deadlines and meeting reminders. You have access to Council Officers, documents/forms that you can download and much more information on Council programs and committees. Please visit our website! www.sbpta.org

Bookmarks include information about PTA including The Purposes of PTA, Core Values of the California State PTA, and many facts about National and California PTA and are customized to your school. Bookmarks may be purchased for yourself or used as thank you gifts for volunteers, parents, teachers, staff, and students for supporting your PTA/PTSA.
